The Nursery

The Nursery

The baby room is finally complete! Now, the only thing missing is the baby. We are very pleased with how the room turned out and we find ourselves spending a lot of time in there just tidying up or arranging things…getting everything ‘just right’. When we started this room, we knew we weren’t going to find out what we were having, so the room had to function well for both a baby boy or a baby girl. This actually worked out well as I had always wanted to do a ‘typical nursery’ room with soft colors and just a real baby-feel to it. Cameron’s room was great, but not necessarily ‘baby’; and Ellie’s was kind of temporary since we were only in that house for a couple months…so, this was the perfect chance to do it.

At first glance, the room looks ‘simple’…and while that is not a bad thing, it is sooooo far from the truth. This was the hardest room I think we have ever done. The most important part to this room is the colors. Jen and I spent hours going over 100′s of color samples. This is the first time I have ever painted 6 colors in one room!! Once the colors were selected, the layout of the room started to really take shape. To get an idea of how hard the set-up of this room was, I used over 300 FEET of masking tape…and the room is only 12′ x 14′. Also, it is next to impossible to paint a straight line on a textured wall so I ended up having to freehand every straight line you see. So, given the challenges, it is pretty impressive this room only took a few weeks from start to finish.

We hope you like it as much as we do! It feels great to have it done, as it was kind of that big ‘thing’ hanging over us that we needed to get done to feel 100% ready. All pictures are ‘clickable’ for hi-res version!!

Take Care,

Love, MJCE

Dude……..you need to perform some Man duties now. Reading about you looking at color swatches for “hours” makes my lunch come up.

Come over when the baby news gets settled down and we’ll throw in Blade and drink some Old Style.
