Our little ‘bobble-head’…

Now that soccer is over for the Summer, we had to find something fun and challenging for Cameron to do – and did we ever find that with Baseball!! We signed him up for YMCA Coach-Pitch Baseball and he absolutely loves it! It was a little bit of a gamble since Cameron never even played Tee-Ball before, but any doubts as to whether he would pick up the game were answered with a resounding ‘YES’ this past Monday. In his first ever game he went 2-2, with 2 singles, 2 runs scored and had 2 put-outs in the outfield!! It is important to know that there are no ‘outs’ in his league :) , but still he did an AMAZING job.
And just when we thought we had seen it all, lo and behold he comes out of the dugout for the second inning in the Catcher’s gear!! Aparently, the coach asked if anyone wanted to catch and Cameron shot his hand up in the air. Now keep in mind, we said this was his first time playing baseball (other than catch/etc) – and when you add to that he’s the youngest on his team by close to a full year – and then add to that he is the shortest on his team by almost a foot…so to see him come out as catcher sent the entire crowd into applause. Everyone just loved watching Cameron, and he did a fairly good job at catcher (considering he couldn’t really see or stand up or move).
In the end, we had a blast watching his game, and it looks like this season is going to be full of memories! Here are some pictures from Cameron’s first game.

Take Care,

  1. Oh my gosh! He looks so cute and talented too!!!! Love the way he is covering the base. I bet it was so fun to see him walk out as the catcher. Thanks for the pictures. I miss you all.

  2. Rusty

He is looking a bit like Manny! Baggy pants etc! Where are the dread locks?

Fun pictures – looks like he scored a run! Way to go!

  3. Matt Oldweiler

You’re correct about the baggy pants Rusty!! :)

He’s so small that we can’t find anything to fit him (and I wouldn’t hold your breath on the dreads!)

  4. I keep looking at the picture of CJ in the comments section and it seems like I am looking at you, Matt! …..Waiting patiently for a new update on the family.
    Love, Mom

  5. Matt Oldweiler

I know my hair is thinning…but I didn’t think it was as bad as CJ’s!!! :D

  6. I can’t believe how talented Cameron is! At his game tonight, another parent commented “that kid’s got an arm!” when another parent was pointing out who my son was…”the little kid”. What a champ!
