The stockings were hung…

So, Jen and I have a lot of ‘busy’ weekends throughout the year…but historically, this one has to rank up there with the busiest.  This year was no different, as we managed to cram as much as humanly possible into our 5-day weekend.  Here are some pictures and ‘highlights’ from our Thanksgiving weekend…

On Wednesday we took Cameron & Ellie to see ‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium‘.  Admittedly, it was a tad hokey in parts, yet it was a perfect family movie and we all found ourselves really enjoying it.
Thursday, we spent the morning lounging around before a visit to my Dad & Tina’s for Thanksgiving dinner.  Both the meal and the company were perfect, and we left feeling completely satisfied.  It was great to see friends and family that we don’t get too see too often, as well as raise a toast to those who weren’t able to be there in person.  We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving as much as we did.
Friday was no less than 5 hours old before Jen was up and at the stores trying to snag those post-Thanksgiving specials.  She spent the bulk of the day shopping with our friend Amy, grabbing deals left and right, while the kiddos and I stayed home and pulled out all of our Christmas decorations.  Each year I’m amazed at just how many different decorations we’ve managed to accumulate, and it ended up taking the ENTIRE weekend to get (almost) everything set up.
I managed to get a lot done on Friday…and Saturday brought the major accomplishment of getting the tree set up.  As you can see by the pictures, this is quite the process!  The kids watched the classic ‘The Year A Without Santa Claus‘ while Jen and I assembled the tree.  Out of all the Holiday decorations we have, our tree is by far our favorite.  From all the special ornaments, to the memories of our kids laying underneath it, to being able to see it from both floors in our house…it is the PERFECT tree.  The kids did great hanging ornaments (even though there is more than one instance of 3 ornaments on a single branch!), and despite his nagging cold, CJ was able to hang his 1st ornament…(with just a little help).  It was a great day, filled with many great memories!!

The rest of the weekend was filled with decorating different rooms in our house.  And while we’re not 100% complete, we’re close enough to be able to sit down and relax a bit as the end of our weekend draws near.  We went ahead and snapped a few pictures of our efforts for you all to enjoy.  We are so happy to have everything complete…from our exterior decorations…to the family room…to the dining room…to our nativity.  This is our favorite time of year, and having our house decorated is such a wonderful feeling.  Enjoy!

We want to wish all our friends and family a wonderful Holiday season…and hope to see you all soon.
Love,
MJCE&CJ

P.S.  As a little ‘bonus’, I threw this picture together of the progression of our ‘tree-assembly’.  As you can see, it’s quite a procedure to get this monster put together.  But the result is SO worth it.

Everything looks so pretty. Can’t wait to see it. Very clever picture of the tree assembly. The kids look so cute decorating. CJ looks quite proud! You should use the shot of the fireplace with stockings for a Christmas card sometime down the road. Thanks for the update. I love it.

  2. It’s funny…four days of almost constant decorating sure is a lot, but it doesn’t seem to look like quite as much work as it actually was. It was nice to have the time off to get most of it done, so that now we can just enjoy it! I LOVE our house at Christmastime! :)

We know exactly how much work is involved with all the decorating as we have been decorating for the past week here!!! Your home looks beautiful and so full of life with the small ones :) ) We sure miss those days of having little ones running around at Christmas time ( Grandchildren) not kids!! Ha! Enjoy the Season!!!
