Even though our summer is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet…we didn’t let that stop us from making our annual trip down to New Mexico for Jen’s Family Reunion! We left on Friday morning (July 4th) and spent 2 nights in Mora, New Mexico with our family. It was a great time and we are so lucky to be able to spend at least a few days with our loved ones.
Friday afternoon and evening was spent setting up camp and gathering firewood. Once the sun set…we enjoyed a nice visit with family around the fire while the kiddos made S’mores for everyone. Saturday was highlighted by a hike to Morphy Lake. What made it extra special was that our whole family made the trek – and it was CJ’s 1st ‘Family Reunion Hike!’ The lake was gorgeous and we had a nice time chit-chatting and snacking on the shore.
The remainder of the weekend was spent visiting with family…cooking and cleaning…watching Cameron fall in the river…etc. And no Family Reunion would be complete without the Pinata! CJ took his 1st swings at the pinata this year, even though he wasn’t 100% sure what was going on. Ellie gave it some good hits, but it was Cameron who ended up busting it open.
All in all (even though it was a hard trip to make) we had an AMAZING weekend and are so thankful we were able to spend some time with our family. We hope everyone else had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!
As for us…we leave for Michigan tomorrow morning…so expect a little delay before our next post!
Take care – and we hope everyone is doing great!!
Love,
MJCE&CJ
