Trees…trees…trees…

So…most of you know by now that the major project @ the Oldweiler house this summer was the ‘re-doing’ of the backyard.  While we’ve been happy with the layout, we have always wanted to make some modifications and additions to our backyard.  To that end, we set out to change the shape of the grass line, as well as add some trees and additional landscaping.  Alas, I’m happy to say we are pretty much done for this year!!  You can see the changes in the before and after pictures below, and hopefully you feel the changes are as great as we do.  We ended up with not only the trees, but a wonderful area next to the deck that will be covered with flowers and ground cover next spring.

I’m extremely pleased with the way the yard is shaping up, and feel we have such a wonderful space for our kiddos to play and enjoy.  And while I can barely lift my arms to type this post right now, I’m very proud of the fact I was able to pull off the additions myself, as opposed to hiring them out.  Of course a special thanks goes to Mike for lending a hand with the trees…it is always great to spend some time together (especially when heavy lifting is involved!…now where was everyone when I was moving the sod!?!?!?)  Anyway, here’s one more before and after shot of the South end of our lawn:

I know…I know…I’m sure you’re doubting Mike and I planted all these trees ALL BY OURSELVES…and you’re right.  I’m sad to admit we actually did have some help.  We really could NOT have done it without CJ:

This will most likely be the last ‘yard’ post of this year, so I hope everyone had a fantastic summer/fall – and here’s to a wonderful Winter!!!
