A Happy Mother’s Day

A Happy Mother’s Day

Mother Nature did her best to put a kink in our annual Mother’s Day celebration…but she ended up failing miserably.  :)   Despite cool temperatures and a rainy morning, we were able to not only get to the garden store and pick up all the necessary goodies – but we were also able to get them all planted as well!  It was a wonderful, productive and special day that left us all feeling extremely satisfied (and extremely tired!)

As we always do on Mother’s Day, we headed out early to our local garden shop.  We picked up all kinds of fun stuff for not only our garden, but our flower pots in front and our new perennial garden in the backyard.  After a quick lunch, we set out to start the planting!  Since it was raining ALL morning, we didn’t stay clean for long, but the kiddos sure didn’t mind.  Somehow we ended up getting EVERYTHING planted, which Jen thinks might be the first time ever!

Here’s a quick list of (what I think is) everything we have planted this year:

  • Squash
  • Zucchini
  • Tomatoes
  • Roma Tomatoes
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Snap Peas
  • Raspberries
  • Anaheim Chile
  • Salsa Peppers
  • Lettuce
  • Broccoli
  • Radishes
  • Spinach
  • Onions
  • Strawberries
  • Beans
  • Pumpkins
  • Watermelons
  • Canteloupe
  • Corn
  • Sunflowers

Phew!  I’m getting tired (and hungry) just thinking about all that great food we’ll enjoy later this summer!  Anyway, as I said, it was a WONDERFUL day, and we hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day as much as we did.  Here’s a few pictures of yesterday’s planting, etc.  Take care!  Love, MJCE&CJ

You forgot the string beans!!! :) We also planted three different types of pumpkins…giant, carving and pie.

I am SOOOOOOOOO excited to have everything start growing, and the front of our house is just so beautiful with the new flower pots also.

Thanks for a great (and productive) Mother’s Day!

Boy, you were all busy. We were too but unfortunately we won’t be doing the veggies this year. Love that you can now go thru the pics without exiting and doing one at a time. Just think, I will see the garden in just a few days. Love the garden flag :) ! What a wonderful space you have for your garden.
