Fun in the Fresh Air

Fun in the Fresh Air

The pop-up camper has been hauled out of storage, cleaned, and dragged up to the mountains…which can only mean one thing:  Summer has officially started!  That’s right…this past weekend we spent a couple nights enjoying some time away from the daily chaos at Camp Dick campground in Peaceful Valley, Colorado.  We stayed at this site last year and really enjoyed all it has to offer in terms of location, hiking trails, sites, etc.

We got to our site just before dinner on Friday night, and we had enough time to get the camper set up and relax with our friends for a while before getting dinner going.  After a good meal cooked over the fire we sat around with the kiddos and talked until around 10:00.  Jen and I stayed up a bit later looking at the stars and just enjoying the break from the day-to-day routines.  Saturday brought with it a number of different hikes around the area.  Between the St. Vrain river roaring by, the towering birch trees, and the snow-capped peaks, the scenery is breathtaking.  In the evening we enjoyed some more quality time with the kids around the campfire after dinner, and went to bed thoroughly whooped from a wonderful day.

As we drove home Sunday morning I really got the itch to plan our next trip.  Aside from New Mexico over the fourth of July we don’t have anything set in stone.  Hopefully we’re able to get some plans finalized soon, as it was truly a great (and much needed) little getaway!

In addition to the handful I added to our Flickr account, here are some pictures from this past weekend:

Here’s hoping everyone is enjoying their summer as much as we are…and thanks to Sue, Laura and their fam’ for helping make it such a fun weekend!!

Take care,
