Playing With Toys

Playing With Toys

I love toys…and that should come as a surprise to no one. That being said, I never realized how much I love them until I watched my kiddos play with my collection of Fisher Price Adventure People this past weekend. And while they came nowhere near enjoying them as much as Cory and I did growing up, it was still a blast watching them play with them.

I have to admit that I got a chuckle every time one of them said “what does this guy do?”…because the answer is “NOTHING!” That’s the beauty of this toyline – there are no sounds and the guys do absolutely nothing except bend at the knees! I remember inventing such complex subplots with my brother, imagining every little detail about the figures we were playing with. I am happy to say the kiddos ended up playing pretty well, and the creative juices started to flow for sure.

I get such a charge out of watching the kids connect with things from my childhood…whether it’s a hobby I enjoyed, or a toy I loved…there is just something magical about watching them connect with my memories. This weekend was certainly one of those moments. Sure, Cameron probably over-played his enjoyment, but that only made it more special. And since I am a packrat, I am lucky to have so many opportunities to witness my kiddos enjoy items from my past…but that doesn’t make it any less special!

Here are just a few pics from this past Sunday:

Take care,

  1. Gramps

Looks like the big kid was having as much fun as the kiddo’s!

  2. Mom (a.k.a. Grandma)

Gramps told me he saw this post first and beat me with the first reply….but it doesn’t show up?? Great memories of watching you and Cory play with those toys. Glad I kept them, knew they would be played with and loved again.
Thanks for the memories for me too.
