So this is a puzzle that we haven’t been able to solve. There we were on the Safari ride in Animal Kingdom when our driver stopped the van and told everyone to be quiet. He informed us we were incredibly lucky to see a lion up close and personal. And sure enough, we looked out of our vehicle and saw a lion asleep under the tree right next to our bus!!.
The puzzle is the fact that we aren’t sure the lion is for real!? Honestly, it’s almost too picturesque. So, what do you think? Is this for real?, or is it just another piece of Disney ‘magic’?

Something about this little dingy just caught my eye during our visit to the Mayflower in Plymouth, MA. It seemed so small and rickety that it was hard to imagine it bringing loads of settlers over to the ‘new land’. This little boat was an interesting little part of a fascinating visit to the Mayflower.

Who can forget their first visit to Disney World? Certainly not our kiddos who woke up one Saturday morning to find their bags packed and plane tickets ready. The ’surprise’ trip was truly a magical time, and we enjoyed one of our best vacations ever.

For our 10 year anniversary, Jen and I headed out to San Francisco, CA. One of the highlights of an extremely busy trip was a visit to Napa Valley for a tour of the wineries. One of the stops along the tour was at Andretti Wines, owned by the famous race car driver Mario Andretti. While we were tasting the wines, we wandered off into the vineyard and snapped this pic.

My love of toys extends far beyond the reaches of my basement…and thanks to the wonderful invention called ‘the internet’, I am able to purchase toys from regions I never would have dreamed of when I was young. These toys for example were picked up from a seller in Japan of all places.
This line-up features the tri-color set of the figure named ‘The Announcer’, from the Kinkeshi release of figures. These rubbery figures served as the precursor to the popular United States toy release called M.U.S.C.L.E. Men. I love the detail and emotion in this figure, and think the three colors work well when photographed together.

During our honeymoon in Italy Jen and I were lucky enough to tour the grounds at Pisa – and take in the sights in and around the ‘leaning tower’. Although it is a tad commercial nowadays, it was still great to be able to take the tour and learn the history behind the tower. And since this photo is over 10 years old, I decided to goof around with it in Photoshop and make it look a tad more ‘aged’.

According to the United States Air Force, “the Heritage Flight (HF) program presents the evolution of USAF air power by flying today’s state-of-the-art fighter aircraft in close formation with vintage fighter aircraft.” I was lucky enough to witness an HF a few years back at the Rocky Mountain Air Show, and watched in awe as the old B-25 Bomber flew alongside the modern F-16 (separated by just a few feet!). It was extremely powerful to see the two different aircraft involved in such a meaningful display.

On our recent visit to Nantucket, we stopped by the farm where the kiddos Aunt works for a little fun with the animals. I took this shot of her horse during a break from watching the kids feed chickens/hold bunnies/chase sheep/etc.

As odd as it sounds, we were actually running AHEAD of schedule on our recent visit out to Nantucket. Usually it seems as if we are scrambling in an effort to get from point A to point Z in time, but thankfully this time we had time to spare. While we waited for the ferry to arrive, Gramps drove us to a nice little beach in Hyannis.
The sun was just rising over an unusually calm ocean and it created a wonderful, golden landscape. We spent an hour or so walking the beach collecting shells and taking pictures of various birds and wildlife. Just as we were about to leave, I heard a couple geese flying by. I turned just in time to get a picture of this goose as it broke the surface of the water. Such a special memory from the start of an amazing vacation.

So…pretty much everyone born before 1990 knows who Mr. Rogers is. Yet how many of us have actually seen the house he grew old in? I have to tell you, I have been to Nantucket island a number of times – and been on a dozen or so ‘tours’ of the place – and this is by far my favorite spot on the island.
On an island that is seven miles long at it’s widest point, it took 30+ minutes to get to this house. It’s as secluded as secluded can be. It’s also fascinating to think of one of the most influential figures in children’s programming growing old in such an archaic building. Honestly, it’s called ‘The Crooked House’ because it’s literally crooked! What a fascinating journey it was to see this wonderful home, and it’s one I will never forget!
