My love of toys extends far beyond the reaches of my basement…and thanks to the wonderful invention called ‘the internet’, I am able to purchase toys from regions I never would have dreamed of when I was young. These toys for example were picked up from a seller in Japan of all places.
This line-up features the tri-color set of the figure named ‘The Announcer’, from the Kinkeshi release of figures. These rubbery figures served as the precursor to the popular United States toy release called M.U.S.C.L.E. Men. I love the detail and emotion in this figure, and think the three colors work well when photographed together.

According to the United States Air Force, “the Heritage Flight (HF) program presents the evolution of USAF air power by flying today’s state-of-the-art fighter aircraft in close formation with vintage fighter aircraft.” I was lucky enough to witness an HF a few years back at the Rocky Mountain Air Show, and watched in awe as the old B-25 Bomber flew alongside the modern F-16 (separated by just a few feet!). It was extremely powerful to see the two different aircraft involved in such a meaningful display.

I was driving around trying to take some pictures of the bald eagles circling our neighborhood when I noticed these great looking ‘things’ outside my window. Are the dead cattails, or just some neat looking grain? I don’t know. All I do know is that I am glad I took a few pictures of them before I drove away.

So how strange is it that almost one year to the day since seeing our first bald eagle in the tree behind our house, I see TWO bald eagles in the tree behind our house!?! I was driving home from doing some Christmas shopping when I noticed a couple of cars pulled over on our street. I immediately knew what was going on and turned my gaze towards the ‘big tree’. Lo and behold, not just one – but two gorgeous (and huge!) bald eagles were sitting on the tippy-top branches of this giant tree.
I screamed home…ran inside…grabbed my camera…changed the lens and shot back out the door. I didn’t want to miss this opportunity. When I returned I was able to get a couple of decent shots before the batter ran low on my camera causing the automatic shutter to not work properly. Regardless, I am pleased to at least have gotten a few good shots. These eagles were much more scruffy looking than the one we saw in January – but still just breathtaking to see in the wild.

We were day-tripping up in the foothills with family when our oldest decided to stop and peek in the window of the local ‘Christmas’ shop. Thankfully, I was lucky enough to get my camera out in time. Such a classic pose – it almost belongs on the cover of ‘Look’ magazine!

So one of our favorite places to take visitors to Colorado is Eldorado Springs. It’s only about 25 minutes from Denver but it is absolutely gorgeous. The roads are easy to navigate, and within a few minutes you are in the middle of the foothills and surrounded by aspens, pine trees, rivers and trails winding up and down the hillside.
This picture was taken during one of my mother’s visits from out East. The kids had a blast running around, throwing sticks, etc. Also of interest is that the river pictured above is used in making Eldorado Springs bottled water. The manufacturing plant sits just a few miles down the road. So if you find yourself in Colorado with a few hours to spare, head on up and enjoy the beauty!

This time of year is all about ‘pumpkin’ at our house. Whether it’s picking our fresh pumpkins from our pumpkin patch…or carving jack-o-lanterns with the kiddos…or eating some of my wife’s delicious ‘pumpkin-ified’ treats…it’s all-pumpkin, all-the-time. And since this site just wouldn’t be complete without a picture of one of our prized pumpkins..here it is!

Whether it is in the wild or in the zoo, the bald eagle is truly an amazing specimen. Almost as if it knows it’s the symbol for American freedom, this bird seems to just exude confidence and strength. And while I normally don’t enjoy taking pictures of animals behind bars – I had to bend the rules and take a few pictures of this unbelievably beautiful bird.

Star Wars + Garbage Pail Kids = Amazing Picture! Honestly, this picture combines my two favorite hobbies (not to mention two of my favorite toys to be released for those hobbies!). I absolutely LOVE this Rancor, and am proud to have this rare, and wonderful character from the SW toyline in my collection!

There I was…cleaning up the front yard for company, when this beautiful red leaf blew into my path. I just KNEW it had to be photographed so I ran inside to get my camera. Of course, the kiddos couldn’t resist helping, so they proceeded to bring me a couple of yellow leafs. Appreciating the lovely contrast, I spread them out on the ground and took a couple pics. I love this picture for no other reason than my children helped make it happen!
